What’s the deal with a name in Glasgow?
Today we’re introducing our newest Guest Blogger Louise who lives in Glasgow – read all about her on her profile page here, and if you want to keep up with the latest posts, don’t forget to subscribe to our RSS feed.
Arite how you doing, my name is Louise – but what is in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet… (and, most likely have the same thorns jag your fingers when held in a clumsy way).

Glasgow has a lot to offer...
But since I used to live in Bangalore, India I was quick to notice when the city’s name changed back to the local dialect’s version of Bengaluru (pronounced Bengalooru), as it resonated with my own nick-name, Lou.
Bangalore/ Bengaluru is a very happening city, with more noise than a Saturday nightclub and more colour than a rainbow. But I’m back on home turf now and Glasgow always welcomes you with open arms – folk even talk to you at the bus-stop around here. Banter is the name of the game and it’s gallus.
Yes the city may not have that same connection to my name, but I am certainly connected to it and as the saying goes, you can take the girl outside of Glasgow, but you can’t take Glasgow out the girl.
Glaschu is the Gaelic name for the city and Glesga the Scots name, but since St Mungo was the founder, it is also dear green place and we have beautiful parks as well as the famous river.
It’s pure stunning by the way.
Glesga has won awards for the European City of Culture, UK City of Architecture and Design and Intelligent Community of the Year. Yet since word-of-mouth speaks volumes (and patter), it is also safe to go by the city’s reputation of being very friendly.

Lou is one of our favourite bloggers!
Yes we moan about the weather (rain, grey skies and the wind making a mess of your hair-do tend to have that effect) and yes because of that we can appear hard around the edges. But like a finely made chocolate sweet, we are usually soft on the inside.
Plus, since Glaswegians have a tendency to not take themselves too seriously, it is always amusing to see the Duke of Wellington outside of Royal Exchange Square have a traffic cone on his head (whoops, aye it is a Category-A listed monument but even bigger whoops, I meant to say this particular Duke is a statue and not a real person).
Since I like to have a ‘wee wander’ around the city to check out what is happening and have a nosey to see what everybody else likes to ‘get up tae’, I thought it most ideal to be a blogger for MyCityDeal.
Why? Simply because like most folk around here perceive for themselves, I too count the place as my city, am proud of it and I most certainly believe in a braw deal.
So bring it on MyCityDeal! Just like the name suggests, my city means my deal and the title in itself speaks non-stop value.

Groupon site!!!!!
Any chance on getting some blogs from experiences of on going deals.
yes its great Glasgow, Hello to Regent St, its Wednesday yadda yadda yadda.
what about the deals.
that’s why we are all here, i want to know good deals and bad deals.
in the current climate everyone’s belts are a wee bit tighter and deals like the ones on this site are a must to talk about..
so why don’t we.
is it a case Groupon Bloggers don’t actually buy any of the deals.
or is it edited to prevent the people who pay the money for the deals so that don’t see how badly groupon customers are being treated and on the other hand how well groupon customers are being looked after.
lets hear the good the bad the ugly of the deals….
Hey Jerry! The bloggers do go and review the majority of our deals, there are plenty of reviews. If you go to the tag cloud on the right, and click “Reviews” you should be able to see some of them
