Stop me if I’m waffling…

Read Emma’s delicious post on waffles, and remember: it’s National Waffle Day today, so Wafflemeister will give one of you a delicious box with 8 waffles and 1 topping each. Just go to our UK Facebook page and like the waffle status! Have a waffle day!

I don’t know about all of you, but I’ve reach cupcake saturation point. I spent the best part of the last two years drooling over those icing-covered mini cakes. Now though? I want yum yums. And chocolate brownies. And right now, I really, really want waffles.

Yum!

Y’see, the Americans have embraced the doughy, holey, square treat for quite some time now. Over in the UK, we’ll happily toast the potato version up and top it with beans and cheese. But we’ve taken a little longer to add them to our dessert range.

So, why not join me in the waffle revolution? Cast out your sprinkles and stock up on squirty cream and chocolate sauce! To help you along the way, here are five suggestions for the perfect toppings for your wonderful waffles.

Simple and sweet: Maple syrup

Take a heated waffle and drench it in maple syrup, like the yanks do. You might also like to try one of the various flavoured syrups around (cinnamon is amazing on a cold winter morning)

One of your five a day: Banana, squirty cream and chocolate sauce

Plonk a chopped banana, a generous squirt of cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce all over a waffle or two. It’s a luxurious treat that can totally be justified by the fruit content.

The cool treat: Your favourite ice cream flavour

Toast a waffle. Take a huge spoon. Add a huge dollop of your favourite ice cream. Then add another. Consume quickly and complain about a brain freeze.

The waffle sandwich: Chocolate brownie sandwich

Take two waffles. Place one chocolate brownie between them. Heat up so the brownie melts a bit. Add a dollop of ice cream. Eat with a huge spoon or, if you’re feeling greedy, your hands.

The heart attack: Nutella and Peanut Butter

Take some peanut butter and Nutella. Mix them up a bit. Melt them a tiny bit in the microwave. Then pour over a hot waffle. Amazing.

Got any more suggestions?
