Pick of the Pop Ups Continued – Fashion

You loved our guide to pop-up restaurants, so today we’re pleased to bring you the second installment in our series on the capital’s best temporary hotspots with a look at life’s finest pursuit – shopping.

We’ve picked six of the best short-term shops it’d be a (fashion) crime to miss. Read on for a red-hot retail fix!

Hermes Pop-Up

117 Commercial Street, Spitalfields Market, E1 6DW, November 18th-21st
79 – 81 Ledbury Road, London. W11 2AG, from November 25th

You know a trend has taken hold when goliaths of Gallic chic Hermes leap aboard the bandwagon. And leap aboard they have, by announcing a touring pop-up shop that begins a week-long residency in Spitalfields today, transferring to Notting Hill’s Ledbury Road on the 25th. Selling the labels iconic scarves, with experts on hand offering stylish tying tips, the Hermes pop-up is sure to ooze stylish joie de vivre.

Victory Vintage, Bayswater

Whiteley’s Shopping Centre, Bayswater, Bayswater, W2 4NY

Run by teenage sisters Rebecca and Zoe Plummer (yes, that one off of Junior Apprentice), Victory Vintage began life as an online purveyor of hand-picked vintage pieces from the ‘40s, ‘50s and 60’s. The rapidly rising retro connosieurs have expanded into Bayswater‘s Whiteley centre this week, bringing a hefty dose of gone-by glamour with them. One-off shoes, dresses, accessories, all sold by a future business star ? Now that’s a winning combo. Time is of the essence if it tickles your fancy – the VV girls are packing up this Sunday 21st, so head West whilst you can.

Glassworks Studios

Glassworks Studios Winter Store, 53 Monmouth Street, London, WC2, until January

Online fashion and lifestyle boutique Glassworks Studios has seized the pop-up bull by its trendsetting horns, and launched a temporary seasonal store in Covent Garden’s Seven Dials. Renowned for showcasing key contemporary designers in sleek, smart surroundings, Glassworks have decked out their home-away-from-home in fine wintry décor. Expect a confidently chic autumn-winter range nestled ‘midst silver birch logs, pink heather, and an atmosphere of effortless cool.

Octavia Pop-Up Charity Shops

Temple Foundation, Finchley, and The Quadrant, Richmond

With 19 permanent charity shops spanning the length of West London, you’d think the Octavia Foundation would have their work cut out managing a network of conventional retail spaces. However, that hasn’t stopped them taking their uniquely fashion-forward venture on the road, embarking on a series of pop-up placements across the capital. Known for quirky one-offs and the occasional celebrity second-hand, Octavia have sparked a bit of a buzz – but always with charity at their core. Have a conscientious rummage at their pop-ups at Temple Fountain, Finchley between now and January, or at 7 The Quadrant in Richmond until just after Christmas.

Selfridges X Feiyue

Selfridges, 400 Oxford Street, London, UK W1A 1AB. November 29th -January 4th

French trainer firm Feiyue set up (pop-up) shop at the entrance to Selfridges iconic Shoe Galleries this month, bringing a little Parisian pizazz to the grande dame of London retail. Visitors will able to browse a specially selected edit of Feiyue’s Autumn/Winter range, which continues to transform the humble canvas sneak’ into a hipster must have. What makes this pop-up different, however, is the space itself, which takes interactive to a new level. Comprised of pixel-like blocks, which shopper/participants can move around, or tap to change colour, the Feiyue pop-up changes every day. Just like the shoes on offer –i-Pads are included throughout the installation, so visitors can experiment with customising there and then. Get playing, footware fans!

(There’s also a Jack Wills pop-up in store too, for those seeking something a little more standard.)

    Hi

I am a fashion and lifestyle journalism student at London College of Fashion and am doing a story on pop up shops in London. I was wondering if I could get a few quotes from you regarding the same?

    Thanks
