Naked Wines Giveaway

Tis the season to be jolly. And as we all know, nothing spreads goodwill and cheer like a drop of something delicious. Thanks to the joyful bunch at Naked Wines, you could win a parcel of wines and recipes to really get your seasonal shindig swinging – just by liking this post! Read on for more from new wine buff Kate …

I recently stumbled across new-ish UK wine retailer called Naked Wines. Perfect timing as I’ve been pondering which wines to serve on Christmas Day…

Now, I’m certainly no wine expert, but I’ve learnt a thing or two about wine over the years:

1) Price does not always equal quality
2) There are hidden gems to be found in the world of wine

Which is part of the reason I like the look of Naked…

Naked Wines was founded in the midst of the credit crunch to support independent winemakers. In a nutshell, they invest in small producers around the world, in return for exclusive wines at preferential prices – which they pass on to UK wine drinkers. Meaning their customers get better wines for less, and their winemakers can focus on what they do best (i.e. making wine rather than worrying about selling it!).

Since launch (two years ago this week), they’ve helped 22 winemakers set-up shop, they’ve helped them create 85 new wines, and they’ve sold over 1 million bottles in the process! So their model is clearly making its mark.

And the best bit… customers are invited to invest too. They currently have over 40,000 Naked Wine Angels – customers who each invest £20 a month towards more wines, in return for 33% CashBack every time they buy. A great way of having a hand in creating the wines you drink, and getting a great deal in return.

I love the fact that unsung winemakers and small, independent wineries are getting the chance to break into the UK. And once I’ve enjoyed the merchandise, I can chat to the winemakers and other wine lovers on their website – which is more like a social-network than an online shop.

So for the GIVEAWAY… We had a little chat to the team at Naked Wines, and in the festive spirit, they’re offering one lucky Groupon User a FREE case of wine worth over £100 with free, plus a pack of Jamie Oliver’s favourite winter recipes from his books and website, which he’s matched to the wines. They’ll also send the winner a stand-up recipe folder too, so they protect their cards from splodges and splashes!

Simply like this post (and tell us about your favourite tipple if you like!) and you could win a feast in a box. Competition closes 5pm this Friday.

Oh – and check out the Naked Wines Facebook page too. They’re running their very own Christmas competition with the chance to win £1000 worth of food and wine for a festive party!

For bubbles, I’m a big fan of the English Nyetimber, possibly because it’s nice to find an English wine I can really get excited about!

Also the 2007 Mersualt ‘Le Limozin’, Domaine M. Bouzereau from Burgundy is pretty special; crisp and fresh, a pleasure even in wintery weather.
