3 Great Ways To Enjoy Valentines Without Having To Break The Bank!

Sponsored by Get The Guy

A lot of our preconceptions about how Valentines Day SHOULD be are instilled in us from a very early age. Unfortunately, we all have such huge expectations of the day that, more often than not, we end up playing it safe and doing the exact same thing year after year.

For me, personally, a big part of romance is the element of surprise, and just going out to a fancy restaurant again really doesn’t cut the mustard.

Here are 3 reasons why a fancy dinner is not necessarily the best way to go…

  • Eating in a packed-out restaurant can lack intimacy.
  • Things are incredibly overpriced…not the best thing to get you in the mood!
  • Restaurants can be easily forgotten unless it’s somewhere particularly different, so they can lack the memorability factor.

I’m a big believer in the idea that if you are going to do something, go all the way. So, if you are planning on doing anything this valentines, look for the wow factor and create some memories that stick.

Here are a few ideas of what to do on the day itself that hopefully won’t break the bank!

Go For A Romantic Walk Together

When was the last time you took a long, moonlit walk together? An excuse I often hear for not doing so is that there is nowhere “romantic” to go.

Any walk, no matter if you live out in the countryside or in the midst of a big city, can be romantic. If it’s been a long time since you’ve been for a wander together you’ll often find that conversation flows a lot more freely when you’re on your feet. Equally, walks can also act as a great first date when you’re really looking to get to know someone. You’ll never be stuck for things to talk about, as the surrounding environment is always changing and there’s conversational inspiration is around every turn.

Quick tip

If you’ve been together for some time, use this opportunity to talk about the amazing times in your relationship, when you met, the reasons you’re attracted to each other…you’ll immediately begin feeling more attraction for each other in the moment.

Turn Your Living Room Into A Restaurant

Avoid the hustle and bustle of restaurants by transforming your living room into your very own private trattoria. Show that special person how much you care by taking the starring role as chef for the evening, and really put your cooking to the test. If you’ve got any single friends who wouldn’t mind helping out, why not hire them as your personal waiter for the night?

Build A Fort In Your Living Room

Whenever we experience uncertainty in our love lives we should always be looking to kids as our inspiration. They are the ones having all the fun and excitement and, when it comes to ideas for Valentines Day, looking to them for some tips isn’t a bad idea!

If you don’t fancy trying your hand in the kitchen, why not put your engineering skills to the test by building a fort in your living room with sofas cushions and any other building materials you can get your hands on. It’s playful, it’s creative, it’s unique, and what’s more, you’ll remember it! For years to come you’ll hear the sentence “Remember that valentines when we…”.

Enjoy!
