How To: Smokey Eyes

If you are dressing up this weekend for some Halloween fun, or just because you want to, you might be wondering how you can still apply your makeup without scaring people away and still tie it into your costume. I mean come on, what kind of make up would you have if you are dressed as a frog/pumpkin/witch? The answer is the smokey eye! It’s actually possible to create a smokey eye with any colour eye shadow (most people assume black is the only option), and therefore it will tie in with any costume you chose for the big night! You can even do this with different colours and get a great effect (green and purple, gold and champagne, and the list goes on…)
Smokey Eye Tutorial
What you will need:
Choose an eye shadow colour (one dark and one light), foundation or primer, an eyeliner, an eye shadow brush and mascara.
Directions:
- Prepare the eyelids. Apply a primer or foundation and let it set.
- Apply your eyeliner now. You can use darker colour liners if you are using dark eye shadow, but don’t worry if you don’t have an eyeliner, you can run a line of the darker eye shadow you are using along your eye lid. You can go over it a couple of times to get it darker.
- Start working on the base coat for your eye shadow start from the inside of your eye and work outwards. You don’t have to apply to much but make sure you get good, all over, coverage.
- Using this same colour on your eye shadow brush, apply the colour to the lower lash line and carry on all the way to the outer end of your lower lashes.
- Once you have the base colour on start working on blending in the darker color, but keep dark color below the crease of your eyelid. Blend from your eyelash line up to the crease in your eyelid using an eyelash brush. This will give you the best effect and help you blend the colour in best.
- Lastly, but not least, apply lashings of mascara and viola you are ready to paint the town red!
If you are still not sure you have the skill just go onto YouTube and watch a tutorial, or wait for the next make up class deal on Groupon. You’ll be an expert in no time!
