Bonfire Cupcakes and Sausage Rockets!

Bonfire Cupcakes

These Bonfire Cupcakes are so simple to make, all you will need is:

  • 6 Basic Cupcakes – baked to your favourite recipe
  • 9 Cadbury’s Flakes
  • 1 Tub of Buttercream, divided into three and coloured Red, Orange & Yellow

Method

1. Spoon the buttercream over the cupcakes using a teaspoon; don’t worry about being messy – this adds to the fire effect.

2. Break the flakes up into smaller thinner pieces and place these around the top of each cupcake to look like the logs on a bonfire.

3. Put the remaining buttercream into piping bags and pipe tiny amounts onto each cupcake; use the back of a teaspoon to flick up and mix the colours.

Sausage Rockets

These Sausage Rockets are sure to put a smile on the kids’ faces, all you need is:

  • 8 Large Sausages
  • 2 tsp. Golden Syrup
  • 225g Ready–rolled Puff Pastry
  • 1 Beaten Egg (to glaze)
  • Sesame Seeds
  • Red and Orange Pepper

Method

1. Fry the sausages until golden. Allow to cool then heat the oven to 220C/200Cfan/ gas 7.

2. Insert a kebab skewer through each sausage and brush the Golden Syrup over the sausages.

3. Unwrap one sheet of pastry and cut into 8 strips from the shorter end. Wrap around the sausages in a spiral, taking care not to stretch the pastry.

4. Place the sausages on a baking sheet and brush with egg glaze, then sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden

5. Cut each pepper in half then cut out triangles. Insert them on the tips of the skewers.
