Button Earring Tutorial
This Christmas is going to have to be a frugal one. I have become a student again and to say I am missing my monthly pay cheque is a bit of an understatement! So, I have decided that this year will be the year that I make ALL of my presents. I love crafting so this comes as no chore to me and I think that a home-made gift that shows some thought behind it is far nicer than anything bought from a shop…hopefully my family and friends think the same way!
So every week I plan on showing all you lovely Groupon Blog readers how to make your own Christmas presents as well!
Button Earings
This is a really simple yet effective idea with minimal skill involved!
All you will need is:
- 2 buttons
- Earrings (available from any craft shop or haberdashery)
- Glue gun
- Luggage Tags
First of all you need to choose the buttons you are going to use.

Then, using the glue gun you need to glue the earring back to the back of the button and allow to dry.

Next you need to decorate your luggage tag as this will be used to hold the earrings. I had some coloured sticky tape that I used along the bottom, however you could use a stamp or stencil or even some old Christmas wrapping paper. I also wrote “TO” and “FROM” on the tag, however you can leave it blank or use your own message.

Finally you need to pierce 2 holes through the luggage tag and attach the earrings and you have made your first present!
Enjoy!

Hiya! Such an awesome idea! Would you be interested in coming to our WI group to do a live tutorial?
Please email me!
Thanks
could you also make clip on earings
They are lovely I think would be even nicer if you stitched some cotton through the holes before sticking the backs on?
I love this! I have some old buttons my Grandmother had saved from old clothes, I think this would make perfect earrings for my daughters. Thanks!
Cute!
I love this idea. I’ve just been made redundant. Thanks to Groupon, I recently took a jeweller making class so all my female relatives are getting jewellery for Christmas.
Would be nicer if you put something in the holes…great idea xx
Thanks for all the lovely comments – some coloured embroidery thread in the holes would be a great idea as well! It’s great to hear so many of you will be trying it out, Happy Crafting!
