Festive Cinnamon Candle

Spices and candles are synonymous with the Christmas period so this week I have done a tutorial that will tie the two together. Creating something that both looks and smells great and will make anything from a table to a mantel piece really festive! It is really easy and cheap to make and you can accessorise it with anything you want.

Festive Cinnamon Candle

What you will need:

  • Large Candle (Any colour, I used cream)
  • Cinnamon Sticks (I used approx 12 large sticks which I cut in half making them different lengths) Double sided sticky tabs / sellotape
  • Accessories: Ribbon, Bows, Festive decorations, Raffia (The list goes on! Below is an example of some of the things you could use.)

  1. First off, if necessary, cut your cinnamon sticks to size, they are quite tough so I ended up using secateurs. Once you have enough to go aroung the whole candle; lie your candle down and stick one tab at the base of the candle and then another one a third of the way up the candle.

  2. Then stick on the cinnamon, I found that 2 sticks per tab fitted perfectly. Continue this all round the candle.

  3. Once the candle is covered all the way round you can choose what decoration to use. The small festive decorations usually have a bit of wire or plastic coming out of them, this is perfect as you can carefully feed the wire down the centre of a cinnamon stick to attach it to the candle creating a neat finish. Alternatively, festive ribbon looks great or you can leave it plain!

Enjoying making your festive candles festive but please DO NOT LIGHT THEM!. They should be for decoration only as many of the accessories are highly flammable!

I just wanted to say thank you for all the fabulous ideas over the past couple of months. I have made the button earrings for myself & gifts with loads of compliments. I also made the felt cards and used the felt heart brooch idea to make tree decorations to add to my xmas presents. I think everyone will love the little handmade touches. Please keep coming up with new ideas! :)
