Say “Eye Do” To Luscious Long Lashes

Much to my dismay I have recently stopped getting my eyelash extensions done. This is not because I didn’t love them…in fact…I ADORED them! However, it suddenly dawned on me a few weeks ago that unfortunately I am not a WAG, and I do have other more pressing expenses: like mortgage repayments, food, electricity, and getting my hair done of course! Spending £45 every three weeks is just out of my price range, so I thought this week we would look at other ways you can get long lashes without the expense of lash extensions with the same results. There are actually lots of options out there if you have a penchant for long luscious lashes like me.

The most obvious of these options are false eyelashes. You can get them in all different shapes and sizes and there are so many variations out there you could literally find a different set to match each day of the week and then some. They also come in a wide range of colours to match your own hair colour if you are going for a more natural look or to match to your outfit if you are looking for something sparkly or pink, with feathers or without, you will be able to find something to fit every look you are going for.

You can also buy them for a price that fits your budget. Boots and Superdrug have their own brands that cost less than a fiver, or you can hit the high street and have a look in stores like MAC, which sell so many different types and styles for ten pounds and up. If you take care of them you can re-use them over and over again.

If you are looking for something a bit more permanent you can also get your eyelashes tinted black or brown and this will give the appearance of wearing mascara without having to even put it on! You can get kits to do this at home or get a beautician to do it for you, this is a great option if you already have long lashes but doesn’t really help those of use that are lash impaired.

One other option is to use lash-lengthening serums. There are many on the market so be sure to do your research but I have used them in the past and believe me they do actually work! You can also use them on your eyebrows if you need to. Obviously this is a more long term approach to longer lashes so make sure you start using this well before that special occasion to avoid disappointment – to coin a certain hair products catchphrase…it wont happen over night, but it WILL happen!!

But if all else fails and you think to yourself “I need to have long lashes now!”; make sure to keep your eyes peeled for Groupon deals on eyelash extensions and other beauty treatments like this one: £22 for a full set of Nouveau Express Blink ‘n’ Go Lashes and an eyebrow shape at Bliss Beauty. Keep checking your city and see what amazing deals come up.

Happy New Year to you all and have a great 2012!
