Globetrotting in High Heels: At Home!
If it feels like an age before your next trip, why not bring a tiny taste of holidays into your home? Invite your favourite friends round and throw a dinner party themed around your favourite destination.
Spain is a summer holiday favourite for most, and it’s super simple to do a great Spanish fiesta at home – Viva Espana!
It really couldn’t be easier to cook up a spectacular Spanish feast, and Spanish food is great for sharing, creating a really festive, party atmosphere around the dining table.
To Start
Set out tapas including sun dried tomatoes, manchego cheese, parma ham, olives and bread, and let everyone dig in. Patatas bravas are another essential for any Spanish spread, and they’re surprisingly easy to make. Just cook up some garlic, tomatoes and paprika and pour over crispy diced potatoes, ‘et voila!’

For Mains
For a great main course cook up a simple paella with the ingredients of your choice – I love chicken and chorizo. If you can pick up a cheap paella pan and stick it in the middle of the table then it will be extra easy and look super impressive.

For Pudding
Those who have room for dessert will enjoy a traditional creme Catalan (creme brûlée is close enough!)

To Drink
Of course, all of the above should be washed down with glasses of fruity sangria. Serve in a punch bowl for a fun touch, with as many cocktail umbrellas and novelty stirrers as you can get your hands on.

Put on a CD that reminds you of summer and your favourite flowery maxi dress and enjoy a night that makes you and your friends feel like you’re on holiday – even if you are in Derby, in January, and it’s raining.
For that extra authentic touch, lather on the sun cream. The smell will take you right back to the Costa Brava. Bonkers? Yes. A super fun way to brighten up gloomy January? Yes.
Alternatively, if only the real deal will do, head to Groupon Getaways where you’ll find a Seven Night Self-Catering Stay For Two Adults and Up to Two Children for £129 at Miraflores Resort on Spain’s Costa Del Sol (Up to 70% Off).
Happy Pretend Holidays!
