Lovely Eyebrows For Less
Eyebrows Love ‘em or hate ‘em we’ve all got ‘em…although some of us have more than others! But I must say I am confused by the latest craze in brows, the ‘Scouse Brow’. What is it with Scouse brows? I don’t get it, I’ve spent most of my life trying to carefully match the colour of my brows to my bleached hair only to have the weirdest invention in brows confuse me by telling me it’s ok to have black brows and blonde hair!

For those of you who don’t know what they are you need to Google them right now, but I will attempt to explain. A Scouse brow was invented in Liverpool on the program ‘Desperate Scouse Wives’ by the character Jodie, basically its drawing on your eyebrows dark, thick and heavily manicured – take a look at cartoon characters eyebrows, or Katie Price’s eyebrows and you’ve got it! This craze has swept the nation…ok maybe part of the nation, but it’s not something that I will be rushing out to get done. In fact this weekend I was re-introduced to the perils of doing your own eyebrows!
Times are tough for most of us and in my household we are making a conscious effort to tighten our belts so I’ve been looking at ways I can have my usual monthly beauty therapies done for less. So as I walked down the high street on Saturday past my favourite threading establishment and headed for ‘Boots’ to buy some do it yourself brow taming items. There are so many products you can buy to get your eyebrows just how you like them – be that a Scouse brow or just a standard shape – round, angled or flat. I decided to go for old faithful – wax and tweezers!

I found a huge array of waxing products out there for your eyebrows/or any facial hair and I felt torn as to which product I should buy but I stumbled across a beauty, it’s a little wax wand by ‘Nad’s’, which cost £10 and will probably last about 6 months. It is the perfect size and design for using on your eyebrows and has a tiny applicator pen that makes sure you apply the wax with the precision of a beauty therapist.
For the first time in years I wasn’t afraid that I would accidently rip all my brow hair out and leave only a few hairs. So after ‘shaping’ my brows with wax, I finished the job by tweezing and stragglers and ‘bobs your uncle’ lovely eyebrows for less! For those of you that are unsure about getting it right just follow these simple rules:
- Draw a line from the inside corner or your eye up to your eyebrow – this is where your brows should start so wax off anything outside of this line.
- Draw a line diagonally out from the outside corner of your eye (about a 45 degree angle) – this is where your eyebrows should taper off and end, so wax anything outside of this.
- Shape your eyebrows by tweezing or waxing any hairs inside the arch or your brows and you can define the shape in whichever style suits you – round, angled, flat etc.
Job done! So whether you like your brows thick and defined like they do on ‘Desperate Scouse Wives’ or just neat and tidy in your chosen shape you can do it for less as long as you have the right tools and a little bit of patience!
