We at Groupon are extremely excited to announce our first ever high street initiative, aimed at encouraging people to support their local community and businesses! Passionate about showcasing what they can offer to our fans, the ‘I love Bradford’ campaign aims to highlight some of the best of Bradford’s businesses, whilst also bringing business and customers together.
From working with our Bradford based customers and businesses, we saw a great opportunity to help drive a thriving high street. This week, we will be working with some fantastic businesses to do just that, with the likes of Omar Khan’s, Forsters Bistro, and even the Bradford Bulls, featuring over at www.groupon.co.uk/Ilovebradford.
The campaign comes at a time when retail experts are calling on the nation to help better support the High Street, and after undertaking our research; it is clear that consumers in Bradford are passionate about their local high street, with almost a third coming in once a week and another third a few times a month. This, combined with the fact we have already partnered with so many fantastic Bradford businesses, made this the perfect city to start with!
If you’re interested, here are some of the key stats from the research:
• Room for improvement - Over three quarters (84%) want to see the high street improved and a better range of independent businesses & retailers to choose from (44%)
• Value and customer service key – Shoppers want to see local independent retailers & businesses offer an efficient service (85%), as well as more discounts and loyalty schemes (79%) and personalised (74%) customer service.
• Merchants to deliver better customer service – Recent research from Groupon shows that merchants have the same focus as consumers – in the next year, two thirds (67%) want to focus on direct customer engagement to improve their customer service
Further to the research, Stuart Small – Regional VP of of Groupon will be discussing the results on BCB Radio this week, helping raise awareness for the the ‘I Love Bradford’ initiative.
Our UK MD, Roy Blanga, also commented:
“It’s heartening to know that shoppers in Bradford still have a connection with their local high street and use independent shops and businesses for their everyday needs. However, to keep them coming back, as is the same throughout the UK, continued investment is needed to ensure the area is appealing to shoppers. At the same time, business owners should also be thinking about how to make their offer more appealing both on and offline to deliver better value and customer service. This two-pronged approach is vital if we our high streets are to flourish.”
