Welcome to “The Week that Was…”, our weekly update of Groupon’s coverage in the media.
Although not strictly Groupon news, Danny Cipriani was making headlines last week as he was unfortunately involved in a road traffic accident. Although Danny was sent to hospital, thankfully his injuries were not too serious and he is now on his way to making a good recovery.
Here at Groupon we’ve been really excited about an exclusive deal we’ve been working on, the Beach Body Beautiful Boot camp with rugby star Danny Cipriani to raise money for Heart Research UK. It went live a couple of weeks ago and 15 lucky winners have been chosen to take part.
The event was due to take place this Saturday but unfortunately Danny was involved in a road traffic accident last night and was in hospital as a precautionary measure. Whilst his injuries are not serious, he is unable to lead the boot camp so soon after his accident so we are rescheduling the event.
We’re hoping to be able to hold the event in the next couple of months when Danny is back on his feet. In the meantime everyone here at Groupon HQ would like to wish Danny all the best, and hope he makes a full recovery!

Following our recent super-deal with Danny Cipriani, we thought we’d focus on some coverage regarding something core to us – local and small businesses. Last week we saw some great articles regarding our partner merchants, and how working with Groupon has been beneficial to their businesses.
Today marks St. George’s Day, the celebration of a man best known as the patron saint of England. The occasion is traditionally accepted as the anniversary of Saint George’s death in AD 303, and one that is famed for the medieval tale of dragon-slaying and rescuing an innocent maiden from death. Whether that dragon existed or not, we’ll leave to you to decide.

Last week we launched our celebrity boot camp super-deal with Danny Cipriani and Walker Brothers Fitness, in support of Heart Research UK. It proved to be one of our busiest weeks in the media yet! The deal received great coverage, and was a big hit on social media – we even had a few celebrities talking about it.
